Rural People, Rural Policy |

VRHRC, in collaboration with the Virginia Rural Health Association, the Center for Rural Virginia and the Council for Rural Virginia; has been selected to take part in the Rural People, Rural Policy Initiative (RPRP), funded by a $100,000 grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation of Battle Creek, MI. |

VRHRC's involvement with RPRP will carry on over a five-year period. RPRP consists of six rural policy networks across the nation; with the VRHRC group joining the Central Appalachia network. The initiative began in 2006 and will add additional agencies each year.

RPRP builds and strengthens skilled networks and organizations to advocate and act in the rural policy arena. It seeks to develop a nationwide network of rural advocates and organizations that collectively becomes a knowledgeable, creative, effective, and powerful voice in rural policymaking. Glen Sink, Executive Director of both the Center and the Council for Rural Virginia will join VRHRC's Beth O'Connor in the training sessions.
